This is a phenomenon which is more pronounced in RB2 which expanded the functionality and combo potential of characters. The nature of the gameplay was off-putting for some fans which generally prefer an easy to learn, difficult to master style of gameplay. The fighting is widely regarded as more complex than typically observed in DB games both before and after this. The basic fighting mechanics are similar across both games, opting for a focus on melee combos and cancels, also a good range of super and ultimate attacks derived from the anime. ![]() ![]() The result was an underwhelming sentiment of 1P mode by most fans. The primary difference is that RB1 has a reasonably immersive story mode retelling the events of DBZ, whereas RB2 lacks this, substituting it for the much less well received galaxy mode which is essentially a combination of some original story matchups peppered with a liberal number of what if battles.
